FBI Releases New Footage, Offers $500K Reward in Search for Capitol Riot Pipe Bomb Suspect

The FBI has released new surveillance footage in an ongoing effort to identify the individual who planted pipe bombs near the Democratic and Republican National Committee offices in Washington, D.C., on January 5, 2021, the evening before the Capitol riot. The suspect is described as wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, face mask, black gloves, and distinctive Nike Air Max Speed Turf shoes, and is estimated to be around 5 feet 7 inches tall. Despite an extensive investigation over the past four years—including 600 tips, 39,000 video reviews, and 1,000 interviews—the suspect’s identity remains unknown. The FBI continues to seek public assistance and is offering a $500,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction. Notably, Vice President-elect Kamala Harris was inside the DNC office when one of the bombs was found. The investigation has not yet established a definitive link between the pipe bombs and the events of January 6.
