Hamas Leader Ismail Haniyeh Reportedly Killed in Tehran Airstrike, Hamas Blames Israel

Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh was reportedly killed in Tehran, according to Iran's paramilitary Revolutionary Guard. Hamas has accused Israel of carrying out the attack.

This incident follows Israel's commitment to target Hamas leaders in response to the group's October 7 attack on Israel, which resulted in 1,200 deaths and around 250 hostages being taken.

Hamas stated that Haniyeh was killed in an airstrike on his residence in Tehran after attending the inauguration of Iran’s new president. The organization declared Haniyeh a martyr in a formal statement.
