Israeli Defense Force top leadership approve plans for offensive into Lebanon

BREAKING: According to the Israeli military, IDF Northern Command leader Major General Ori Gordin, in conjunction with Operations Directorate leader Major General Oded Basiuk, have officially approved plans for an offensive into Lebanon. Currently, decisions are being made to "accelerate the readiness of forces on the ground."

Israel has stated "it can no longer tolerate Hezbollah's presence along the border following the October 7 atrocities and has warned that should a diplomatic solution not be reached; it will turn to military action to push Hezbollah northward."

US envoy Amos Hochstein, on a visit to Lebanon, called for an "urgent" de-escalation of the near daily cross-border fire between Hezbollah and Israel.

"We are very close to the moment when we will decide to change the rules of the game against Hezbollah and Lebanon," Israeli Foreign Minister Katz said, quoted in a statement from his office.

No statements have been released yet from Lebanon or Hezbollah.
