New Orleans Truck Attack Leaves 14 Dead: Army Veteran Linked to ISIS Identified as Perpetrator

Shamsud-Din Jabbar, a 42-year-old Army veteran from Texas, was identified as the perpetrator of the New Year's Day attack in New Orleans, where he drove a truck into a crowd on Bourbon Street, resulting in 14 deaths and over 30 injuries.

Jabbar's life was marked by multiple relocations, military service, and financial struggles, exacerbated by three divorces and failing businesses.

Prior to the attack, he had posted videos aligning himself with the Islamic State group and had an IS flag in the truck.

His brother and a childhood friend expressed shock, noting no signs of radicalization or distress.

Despite his tragic actions, those close to him remember him as calm and well-mannered.
