Saif al-Islam Gaddafi Reportedly Killed in Libya Attack

Tripoli, Libya — Saif al-Islam Gaddafi, son of the late Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, was reportedly shot and killed by four masked gunmen at his home in the northwestern city of Zintan, according to local media reports circulating Tuesday.
Gaddafi, once seen as his father’s likely successor, had been living under varying degrees of protection since the 2011 uprising that toppled his father’s regime. He faced an active warrant from the International Criminal Court (ICC) for alleged crimes against humanity stemming from the Libyan civil war.
Authorities in western Libya have not confirmed his death, and details surrounding the incident remain unclear. If verified, his death would mark a significant development in Libya’s post-revolutionary power dynamics, where rival militias continue to compete for control over territory and political influence.
